Medical Payments Poster

Gryphon Healthcare

Responsible for posting insurance and patient payments to accounts using internal systems, reconciling deposits, resolving payment discrepancies, and supporting the billing team in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Posting electronic and manual payments from insurance carriers into internal systems
  • Posting patient payments from the bank lock-box
  • Reconciling insurance payments to bank deposits
  • Applying contractual adjustments and transferring co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance to patient responsibility
  • Reporting payment differences versus contracted rates based on the explanation of benefits
  • Routing denials to insurance accounts receivable teams for re-submission and appeals
  • Identifying and resolving insurance payment discrepancies
  • Assisting with claim re-submission projects as needed
  • Supporting billing department teammates and performing other assigned duties
Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma required
  • Medical billing certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of medical payments posting experience
  • Experience with major insurance carriers, including in-network and out-of-network services
  • Knowledge of medical billing and collection practices
  • Ability to understand and interpret explanation of benefits (EOBs)
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures
  • Experience posting insurance, patient, EFT, ACH, check, and credit card payments
  • HIPAA compliance and ability to maintain confidentiality of patient data and medical records
  • Experience with EMR, EDI, and commercial insurance company systems
  • Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Team-oriented with effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to use Outlook and Windows-based systems
  • Bilingual skills helpful but not required
