The Patient Account Representative II is responsible for the timely collection of third-party and private pay receivables within regulatory guidelines.
This role focuses on back-end revenue cycle functions across the full patient accounting workflow, with a strong emphasis on insurance follow-up and denial resolution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing account resolution related to insurance follow-up and denials management
- Overseeing back-end revenue cycle functions from discharge through final account resolution
- Coordinating with payers to resolve outstanding claims and ensure timely reimbursement
- Identifying, tracking, and resolving claim denials to reduce delays and prevent revenue loss
- Working multiple follow-up and denial queues using payer websites and phone calls to secure claim payment
- Reviewing incoming correspondence and responding to inquiries promptly
- Identifying denial trends and escalating issues to prevent future denials and payment delays
- Pursuing appeals and taking necessary steps to resolve accounts
- Reviewing accounts for errors, adjustments, and credits, and issuing corrected entries when needed
- Documenting all communication and account activity clearly for departmental review
- Meeting departmental quality and productivity standards
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications and requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of hospital or medical collections experience
- Knowledge of third-party reimbursement procedures
- Understanding of state and federal healthcare regulations
- Basic knowledge of business office, patient billing, or collection/reimbursement procedures in a healthcare setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Strong 10-key and math skills
- Must reside permanently and work in the State of Texas
- Must be able to attend onsite training for 2 to 4 weeks in Houston, TX, and attend any required onsite meetings
