Job Title: Medical Biller / Coder
Core Responsibilities
- Review medical records and assign accurate CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services.
- Prepare, submit, and track claims to insurance companies (Medicare, Medicaid, private) and patients.
- Investigate and correct rejected claims, initiating appeals when necessary.
- Handle patient billing questions, explain charges, and set up payment plans.
- Check patient eligibility and benefits before services.
- Maintain accurate patient billing and coding records within EHR/billing software.
Key Duties & Tasks
- Stay updated on coding guidelines, regulations, and software.
- Collaborate with providers to ensure documentation supports coding.
- Ensure confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA.
- Track billing metrics and audit records for accuracy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Proficiency with computers, EHR systems, and billing software.
- Good communication and customer service skills for interacting with patients and insurers.
