Responsible for coding and abstracting inpatient and outpatient hospital accounts in accordance with coding guidelines.
- Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes according to clinical documentation and official coding guidelines for outpatient hospital accounts.
- Review HCPCS charges and codes for appropriateness of modifiers in relation to NCCI/CCI edits, and enter accurate charge information when appropriate.
- Monitor assigned work queues to ensure all records are charged in a timely manner.
- Generate coding queries for clarification regarding physician documentation as needed.
- Stay current on coding conventions and coding updates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
- No experience required.
- Must hold one of the following credentials: CCA, CCS, CPC, CPC-A, RHIA, or RHIT.
- State of work location: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin.
