The HIM Coding Specialist Outpatient provides timely and accurate coding for outpatient, ambulatory surgery, observation, recurring, rehab, and skilled care accounts to support optimal reimbursement and regulatory compliance. The role applies ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, APC assignment, NCCI edits, modifiers, and coding guidelines while maintaining quality, productivity, and turnaround standards.
Position details
- 13-week assignment with potential extension
- Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
- Start date: ASAP
- Systems used: EMR, Outlook, VitalWare, Lawson, Encoder Software, Excel
Requirements & Qualifications
- RHIA, RHIT, or CCS required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or exam-eligible graduate
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding
- Basic computer proficiency
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
