Mayo Clinic is seeking a Hospital Inpatient Coder II to review, interpret, and translate provider medical diagnostic and procedural documentation into accurate inpatient codes for hospital claims and reporting.
This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus for onsite expectations based on business needs. The role involves initiating provider queries when needed to support complete and accurate code assignment.
The position is nonexempt, full time, and scheduled during regular business hours Monday through Friday.
Associate degree required.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant hospital inpatient coding experience required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Required credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CIC.
HFMA certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of hospital inpatient coding principles, including DRG assignment logic, Hospital Acquired Conditions, Present on Admission indicators, and HCCs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with productivity requirements.
Strong accuracy, attention to detail, time management skills, and in-depth knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, patient health record content, and the medical record coding process.
