UTHealth Houston is seeking a Professional Coder II to join its Revenue Cycle – Charge Capture team.
This role focuses on coding and resolving edits for diagnostic imaging, with additional responsibility for reviewing medical documentation and assigning appropriate CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and modifier codes for clinic and hospital-based professional encounters.
The position is primarily remote, with an initial onsite training period in Houston and occasional onsite meetings or additional training. Employees must live and work in Texas.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3 years of experience in Health Information Management (HIM) coding required
- Clinic or hospital E/M coding preferred
- Clinic and hospital outpatient-based procedures preferred
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding conventions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to abstract data and maintain a database
- Strong analytical, communication, time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
Certifications
One of the following is required:
- RHIA
- RHIT
- CCS
- CCS-P
- CPC
- RCC

- Remote work includes 2–4 weeks onsite training in Houston
