As a Clinic Coder II, you will support the financial health and operational integrity of a healthcare ministry by accurately abstracting and coding patient records in compliance with coding, billing, and data collection guidelines.
You will review medical records to determine appropriate diagnoses using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding rules and guidelines. You will also work with practice staff on MS-DRG and APC assignments, sequence diagnostic and procedural codes, validate charges against medical documentation, and help resolve discrepancies in coded charges.
This role supports revenue cycle management, compliant data submission, and ethical medical billing practices while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
Required:
- Certified Professional Coder, upon hire, or
- Certified Coding Associate, upon hire, or
- Cardiology Coding, upon hire, or
- Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based, upon hire, or
- Certified Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Coder, upon hire, or
- Registered Health Information Administrator, upon hire
Preferred:
- Prior healthcare billing experience
- Strong understanding of healthcare billing, medical insurance, payer contracts, and automated systems
- Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking, and commitment to accuracy
- Experience in a revenue cycle optimization environment
- Ability to work with limited oversight
