UW Medicine Enterprise Records and Health Information is seeking an Inpatient Coder with experience in a Level 1 Trauma center and/or teaching facility.
This role supports inpatient coding, billing, and reimbursement by analyzing medical records and assigning ICD-CM and ICD-PCS procedure codes. The position also involves DRG assignment, case mix review, documentation improvement collaboration, and maintaining timely coding turnaround standards.

Key responsibilities
- Perform chart analysis and assign ICD-CM and ICD-PCS codes using 3M computer-assisted coding tools
- Compute final DRG assignment for inpatient diagnoses and procedures
- Review patient records for inpatient rehabilitation and Medicare rehab billing
- Abstract and review patient data in EPIC and 3M 360 CAC
- Identify documentation gaps and work with CDI for clarification
- Maintain four-day turnaround times for inpatient coding
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of coding experience or equivalent education/experience
- Certification in one of the following: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CIC, COC, CIRCC, RCC, or ROCC
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma center and/or teaching facility is required
