Kind Behavioral Health is a leading provider of Applied Behavior Analysis services in North Carolina and Georgia, dedicated to improving the lives of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The Billing Specialist will support patient responsibility collections, insurance verification, claims reprocessing, appeals, and payor enrollment activities while serving as a compassionate advocate for families.
This role combines billing operations with family-centered support, helping clients navigate payment responsibilities, insurance coverage, and available financial assistance resources.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing patient responsibility accounts with professionalism and empathy
- Creating and maintaining flexible payment plans
- Monitoring accounts receivable aging and collection activities
- Processing patient payments accurately
- Researching financial assistance programs, grants, and community resources
- Supporting insurance eligibility and benefits verification workflows
- Reprocessing claims and filing appeals for incorrect denials
- Managing EFT and ERA enrollment processes for payors
- 1-3 years of experience in healthcare billing, collections, health insurance interactions, or patient financial services
- Experience with insurance verification, claims processing, and accounts receivable
- Knowledge of healthcare billing regulations and HIPAA compliance requirements
- Strong customer service skills and comfort with sensitive financial conversations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to resolve issues independently and maintain consistent follow-up
- Familiarity with ABA services preferred, including CPT codes 97151-97158 and Medicaid eligibility
- Familiarity with EHR systems, preferably CentralReach, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Experience working with commercial insurance and government payors such as Medicaid and TRICARE preferred
- Experience in pediatric or third-party reimbursed healthcare settings preferred
