Patient Account Specialist provides cash posting operations to the billing team within the assigned function(s). The incumbent performs timely and accurate posting of electronic and manual cash receipts, denials, and adjustments to patient accounts in the EMR, and researches and corrects data entry errors using eClinicalWorks.
This role supports a primary care, psych, and behavioral health social service setting with specialized LGBTQ+ care and services.
The position is part of the Revenue Cycle Management Team and includes work in EMR queues, ERA posting, credits, denials, adjustments, payment entries, bank reconciliation, remit retrieval, self-pay patient communication, and end-of-month cash posting and reconciliation.
Education
- High school diploma required
- Two years of cash posting, register reports, cashier, accounting clerk, or related experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Knowledge of EMR systems, preferably eClinicalWorks
- Cash posting, EFT, payer portal, and EOB experience
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to tactfully interact with diverse personalities
- Ability to type and use 10-key calculator functions
- Comfortable working in a busy environment with changing priorities
- Good computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Additional Requirements
- Valid Florida driver’s license and proof of insurance required
- Reliable, accessible vehicle required
- Must pass fingerprinting, Level II background check, and E-Verify employment eligibility verification
Compensation
- Sign-on bonus of $800 after 120 days of satisfactory employment
