Responsible for submitting claims accurately and on time to insurance and government payers, monitoring assigned payers for unpaid or at-risk claims, and promptly resolving and resubmitting claims as needed. This role also handles payment posting, contractual adjustments, payer denials, credit balances, refunds, and patient billing support.
Provides customer service by answering patient calls, explaining billing questions, taking phone payments, and setting up payment plans for outstanding balances.
High school diploma or GED required.
Medical billing certification is desirable.
Minimum of 1 year of work experience in professional or hospital insurance billing, collections, and payment posting.
Strong understanding of insurance reimbursement principles.
Computer literacy with basic skills in patient account management systems, Microsoft Excel and Word, and web-based applications.
