Cottage Health is seeking a Patient Account Representative for the CH Patient Financial Services – Professional Billing department. This role is responsible for working hospital and physician accounts to ensure timely resolution.
The position involves charge reviews, retro-reviews, working account and claim edits in the EHR, following up on claim submissions, reviewing remittances for insurance collections, pursuing disputed balances, and resolving credit balances from both government and non-government entities. The representative also works closely with internal revenue cycle teams and external payer organizations.
Preferred education:
- Some college coursework in accounting, business administration, healthcare administration, health information management, or management
Technical requirements:
- Basic MS Word and Excel skills
- 35 wpm keyboarding/typing speed
- Basic math skills
- Preferred: advanced user of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience requirements:
- Minimum: successful completion of the Revenue Cycle Department Intern program, possession of a Billing Certificate, or 6+ months of medical office or patient access experience in a healthcare environment such as a doctor’s office, patient registration, hospital/clinic billing, or scheduling
- Preferred: 1 year in a hospital, physician, or clinic environment with knowledge of billing and/or registration systems and types of medical coverage
