Patient Registration Representative

The Patient Registration Representative (PRR) plays a vital role in providing exceptional customer service to patients and supporting the delivery of quality patient care. This role handles clerical and administrative tasks, maintains patient confidentiality, and helps ensure accurate health records and billing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the integrity of health records by accurately inputting and retrieving information in the electronic medical record system.
  • Schedule appointments, complete pre-registration tasks, verify demographic and insurance information, and support accurate billing.
  • Identify when clinical healthcare staff triage is needed.
  • Coordinate patient flow while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with the patient care team, provide care coordination services, and contribute to quality improvement activities.
  • Process prior authorizations and referrals, and provide specialist resource information.
  • Track and log patient data accurately.
  • Attend required meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements include periods of sitting, standing, walking, and bending. The role may require lifting up to ten pounds and occasional evening or weekend work.

Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
  • 3 years of experience in high-level customer service and relevant healthcare roles.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
