The HIM Coder is responsible for converting diagnoses and treatment procedures into codes using an international classification of diseases. The role requires accurate sequencing of diagnoses and procedures to support reimbursement, and timely coding of medical records. The coder also runs coding reports from the EHR and maintains coding records in a timely manner.
This is an on-site position and remote work is not available.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years of previous hospital coding experience preferred
Certifications
- CCS certification preferred
- CPC certification preferred
