Billing Coordinator

Noland Health Services, Inc.

Responsible for billing, collecting, and working accounts from third-party payors and patients/residents to resolution. Completes necessary insurance claim requirements, follows up on unpaid claims, and responds to inquiries regarding patient/resident charges and account status.

  • Reviews and prepares insurance billing for completeness and accuracy, making edits and corrections before submission.
  • Contacts patients/residents, employers, and others to obtain information needed to file insurance claims.
  • Processes late charges and other account adjustments.
  • Reviews and works audit trails on outstanding accounts.
  • Follows up on unpaid balances with insurance companies and patients/residents through statements, collection letters, re-bills, and phone calls.
  • Collects charges not covered by insurance or arranges payment plans.
  • Reports bankruptcy and estate claims to collection attorneys and adjusts accounts as needed.
  • Follows up on past-due contractual payment agreements.
  • Records and documents all account activity.
  • Posts remittances from Medicare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicaid, and other third-party payors, and processes remittance rejections according to guidelines.
  • Posts payments from patients/residents.
  • Balances and audits work as required.
  • Investigates credit balance accounts and completes processing requests.
  • Trains and assists facility personnel on billing office computer programs as assigned.
  • Receives and resolves inquiries from patients/residents, representatives, insurance companies, and attorneys, documenting account-related discussions.
  • Performs general office duties including answering telephones, maintaining supplies, and processing return mail.
  • Supports record maintenance and office filing requirements.
  • Performs research for Medicare bad debts, daily census, month-end, and other periodic reports as requested.
  • Performs other responsibilities and special projects as directed.
Requirements & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 1 year of related experience in a medical business office environment required.
