Responsible for leading the billing team and serving as a subject matter expert to ensure timely, accurate billing and collections for services rendered by NHC providers.
Primary responsibilities include supervising billing staff, coordinating workload, managing billing reports and quality control processes, monitoring third-party coverage contracts, supporting accounting and finance reporting, and helping maintain accurate claim workflows in EPIC.
This role is primarily remote, but the candidate must live within a reasonable commuting distance from Raleigh, NC.
Additional duties include overseeing claims transmission, following up on unpaid claims, reviewing payment processing, providing patient account support, and delivering ongoing orientation and training to staff.
Associate’s degree in medical billing and coding preferred, or equivalent education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive billing experience, including supervisory duties.
Experience in an FQHC setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of insurance basics, medical billing terminology, payer requirements, and systems such as HMO/PPO, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding.
Working knowledge of EPIC and practice management systems.
Certified coding certificate or comparable experience required.
Strong computer literacy in Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel, with keyboarding skills of at least 45 wpm.
Advanced math skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage high-volume work.
Excellent communication, customer service, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, delegate when needed, and handle conflicts professionally.
Must be able to work remotely with a secure home internet connection and comply with required vaccines.
