Responsible for accurate coding and reimbursement of complex outpatient encounters, including Observation stays, Same Day Surgery, and outpatient procedures.
Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Review medical documentation and ensure coding accuracy at a minimum of 95%. Resolve NCCI edits and use coding tools such as 3M Encoder. Follow ethical and regulatory standards. Review records thoroughly and communicate with physicians for clarification when needed. Analyze system changes and participate in software testing and optimization. Adhere to productivity and quality standards and support process improvements.
3-4 years of acute healthcare coding experience. RHIT, RHIA, or CCS credentials. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of anatomy, disease processes, pharmacology, and coding conventions. Preferred: bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience.
