The role also supports charge entry, patient account setup, demographic verification, chart audits, and coordination with billing and collections teams.
- Assign procedure and diagnosis codes for billing procedures
- Create patient accounts for EKGs, echocardiograms, and vascular interpretations
- Verify demographic information
- Enter charges for hospital procedures, daily rounds, and studies
- Print and attach supporting documentation for billing accuracy
- Take information from hospital calls regarding cardiology consults
- Assist with billing, collections, and data entry as needed
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Keep coding information current and communicate code changes to staff and providers
- Perform quarterly chart audits
- Carry out related duties as assigned by physicians or administrators
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; some college preferred
- Coding certification must be maintained
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely
- Strong interpersonal and patient relations skills
