Remote inpatient coding role responsible for accurately coding and abstracting diagnoses, procedures, and clinical information from the medical record.
The position supports compliant inpatient coding, data quality, and productivity standards while collaborating with HIM staff and Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists to ensure complete documentation and accurate coding and billing.
Operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM EST.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS code sets and MS-DRG and APR-DRG payment models
- Successful completion of at least one AHIMA-certified program preferred, with credential such as RHIA, RHIT, or CCS preferred
- Associate degree or higher in Health Information Management preferred
- Prior experience in a large hospital system (500+ beds) preferred
- Familiarity with multiple service lines, facility coding guidelines, EMR platforms such as Epic, and 3M-360 software is a plus
- Experience coding acute care trauma/teaching Level 1 facilities and complex service lines including transplants, surgical services, behavioral health, gastroenterology, and wound care
- Ability to meet coding productivity and accuracy requirements
- Must pass a pre-employment coding proficiency assessment
