Review medical record documentation and assign appropriate outpatient surgery coding in accordance with diagnosis and procedure guidelines and HCA-ASD Coding Compliance Policies and Procedures.
This role supports Surgery Ventures and HCA Healthcare by coding outpatient surgery center records accurately and efficiently, resolving documentation conflicts through query tools, ensuring encoder updates are current, and assisting with billing support for supplies and implants. The position also includes support for accrediting body and/or state reviews.
Requirements & Qualifications
- RHIT or RHIA degree preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in outpatient coding and/or Health Information Management required
- At least 1 year of experience in a medical office setting preferred, such as an ambulatory surgery center, hospital, or physician office
- Coursework in Human Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Introduction to Coding (including ICD-10 and CPT) preferred
- Successful completion of an ICD-10-CM training or certification curriculum, or at least 50% completion with an expectation of finishing within 2 months after hire
- Proof of certification, transcript, or similar documentation of successful completion/competency assessments required
