Assess the accuracy, consistency, and compliance of clinical documentation reviews performed by front-line CDI specialists.
Perform routine and ad hoc audits of CDI queries, documentation reviews, and EHR entries to ensure compliance with internal standards, industry guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Evaluate query appropriateness, clinical evidence, and alignment with coding rules, identify trends and performance gaps, maintain audit tools and metrics, and present findings to leadership.
Provide coaching and educational support to CDI team members and help develop tip sheets, query templates, and other training materials.
Required:
- Clinical Documentation Professional credential from ACDIS, obtained before hire or transfer date
- High school diploma with 2 years of cumulative experience, or associate's/bachelor's degree, or 4 years of applicable job-specific experience
Preferred:
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) certification
- Strong understanding of CDI best practices, MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodologies, and coding principles
- Knowledge of SOI/ROM, MCC/CC capture, risk adjustment, quality indicators, and CMS compliance
- Experience with audit tools, EHR systems such as Epic, and CDI software platforms such as Iodine, 3M, and Nuance
