Inpatient Coder

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with one of the nation's largest healthcare systems as they expand their inpatient coding team in support of a major Epic implementation. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced inpatient coders looking to work remotely while handling complex, high-acuity cases within a collaborative environment.

If you are passionate about coding accuracy, enjoy challenging inpatient charts, and have experience in acute care hospitals, this role may be a strong fit.

What You Will Do

  • Review and assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for acute inpatient medical records
  • Code complex inpatient cases while maintaining a strong focus on quality and compliance
  • Meet productivity expectations of approximately 2.0-2.5 charts per hour while maintaining high accuracy
  • Work closely with CDI teams and respond to provider queries when needed
  • Utilize Epic and 3M Encoder to complete daily coding assignments
  • Participate in quality reviews and ongoing education initiatives

Preferred Specialty Experience

Experience in one or more of the following is a plus:

  • Cardiovascular
  • Interventional Radiology (IR)
  • NICU
  • Orthopedics
  • Neurology
  • OB / Mother-Baby
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • CCS, RHIT, or RHIA certification required
  • 4+ years of acute care inpatient coding experience
  • Experience coding complex inpatient hospital cases
  • Experience using Epic and/or 3M Encoder preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines
  • Provider query experience preferred
  • Experience with teaching hospitals, trauma centers, or other high-acuity facilities is highly desired
