Build strong working relationships with clinicians, administrators, and revenue cycle colleagues to support an Outpatient CDI program.
Responsible for understanding outpatient payment structures, fee schedules, reimbursement methodologies, and how physician documentation translates into ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT codes for claims submission and reporting.
Create and deliver presentations to physicians, group practices, and administration. Track, monitor, and report case reviews while documenting outcomes.
Serve as a subject matter expert on how provider documentation drives accurate coding of outpatient services.
- Associate degree in a healthcare-related program, plus 3 years of experience in health care, nursing, business, or finance
- 3 years of ICD-10-CM and/or CPT/HCPCS coding knowledge
- Credentialing through ACDIS, AHIMA, and/or AAPC for CDIS or HIM coding
- Or LPN/RN licensure with 3 years of ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS coding experience
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist - Outpatient (CCDS-O) required within 3 years
- Knowledge of physician documentation requirements in clinic, outpatient, or inpatient settings
- Understanding of ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding, CPT/HCPCS coding, and CMS-1500 and UB-04 claim reporting requirements
- Ability to navigate electronic health records
- Must be located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus
