Responsible for performing clerical duties within the Health Information Management department, including sorting and scanning loose reports, uploading documents to the medical center's imaged documents repository, and reviewing scanned images for quality.
Key duties include receiving and accounting for discharge records, preparing documents for scanning, maintaining scanner equipment, performing indexing accurately, assigning batch labels, correcting scanning errors, maintaining electronic logs for retrieval, and cross-training in other HIM clerical functions.
The role supports the hospital's medical records workflow and helps ensure the accuracy and accessibility of patient documentation.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in health information technology or a related healthcare field preferred
Experience
- 1 to 2 years of clerical experience
- Background in basic office procedures and strong computer skills
- Experience with Windows/NT and OnBase preferred
