The Patient Scheduler is a key member of the clinic-based care team, responsible for coordinating in-office appointments for patients receiving palliative and dementia care. This role supports compassionate, patient-centered care by ensuring timely access to providers, maintaining efficient clinic workflows, and serving as a welcoming and supportive point of contact for patients and their caregivers.
The position involves coordinating patient visits, maintaining provider schedules, managing cancellations and wait lists, communicating appointment details, documenting information in the EMR, verifying demographics and insurance information, and supporting front-desk and administrative workflows as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in medical scheduling or healthcare administration
- Proficiency with EPIC systems and standard office software
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to interact positively with patients, families, physicians, staff, vendors, and other external customers
- Ability to read and understand directions, policies, and procedures
- Ability to perform clerical duties and communicate effectively with staff and patients
- Willingness to work Monday through Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with possible after-hours or weekend calls
- Ability to work in an environment with possible exposure to infectious disease or other safety risks
