OrthoArizona is a large privately owned orthopedic practice serving orthopedic and podiatry needs throughout the Valley. The organization has more than 75 providers across 30 locations, along with ambulatory surgical centers and in-house MRI capabilities.
As a Patient Scheduling Coordinator, you will support patients by handling scheduling, coordinating with provider protocols, and maintaining accurate patient and insurance information.
Requirements & Qualifications
Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner; screen and route calls as needed
- Assist patients based on their needs, questions, or issues
- Collect patient data to support accurate scheduling
- Verify active insurance and update insurance information before scheduling
- Schedule appointments accurately according to provider protocols and patient needs
- Maintain knowledge of current provider protocols and anticipate updates
- Create patient notes in the EMR using correct medical terminology
- Research patient records for referral and/or imaging documentation and answer chart-related questions
- Meet individual quotas and KPIs while supporting team goals
- Continue learning practice management software as updates occur
- Follow all standard operating procedures
- Complete training on practice management software
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Excellent customer or patient service skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology
- Working knowledge of computer programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- One year of medical office experience preferred
- Bilingual skills are a plus
- Basic phone handling skills and contact center experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of insurance plans and the specialty referral process
