As our HIM Specialist, you will manage patient health information and medical records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity for patient care.
You will retrieve, file, and organize patient records in both physical and electronic formats, ensure completeness and confidentiality, process information requests, verify identities, assist providers with access, conduct quality checks on scanned documents, update demographics, handle correspondence, and respond to inquiries in accordance with privacy regulations.
This role also supports birth registration functions, reviews encounters for missing documentation and signatures, responds to third-party medical record requests, reviews pended dictations for completion and use in the EMR, and reviews medical record document messages from providers and staff for corrections.
Required
- High School Graduate or GED
- 1 year of experience working with medical records
- 1 year of medical office experience
Preferred
- 1 year of experience working with medical records in an acute care Health Information Management (HIM) environment
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
- Completion of a HIM equivalent study course
- Cerner experience
