The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a full-time, permanent Health Record Technician 1 for the Clallam Bay Corrections Center in Clallam Bay, Washington.
This position supports patient health record management in a secure corrections environment and helps ensure high-quality health services for incarcerated individuals. The role includes managing disclosure and dissemination of health information, supporting health record audits, and providing technical assistance to staff.
The position works Monday through Friday on a day shift and may involve direct interaction with incarcerated individuals in a potentially hazardous setting.
Required Qualifications
- AHIMA certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of appointment and maintain it during employment.
- Valid driver license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in Health Information Management.
- Working knowledge of state and federal laws, national standards, and departmental policies governing health records and disclosure of health information.
- Experience working in a correctional facility.
Other Considerations
- Must be able to work in spaces, climb stairs, walk long distances, and lift up to 30 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to pass a background check and comply with drug testing and other pre-employment requirements.
