Analyze medical records for completeness and ensure regulatory requirements are met. Review inpatient and outpatient records for completeness, assign and remove deficiencies as needed, and support related Health Information Management functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Complete deficiency analysis on required medical records and coordinate with scanning staff to ensure records are received, scanned, and processed.
- Review records in Meditech for completeness and accuracy according to established standards.
- Assign form IDs and electronic signature functions for documents requiring clinician signatures.
- Maintain accurate medical record filing within the Meditech MPI, including duplicate MRN investigation and correction of record inaccuracies.
- Run Meditech reports to identify possible duplicate MRNs, investigate findings, and merge records when appropriate.
- Support documentation workflow improvements in partnership with IT analysts and department leaders.
- Answer telephones, provide routine information, and route calls appropriately.
- Log requests for information in the Release of Information application and respond according to policy and applicable laws.
- Monitor and follow up on patient portal access error reports.
- Provide training for clinical students and new employees.
- Cover other department areas and assist with additional duties as requested.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Medical office experience or medical coursework preferred, but not required.
Other qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with medical records and EMR systems
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities
