Patient Services Coordinator I

IBJI is seeking a professional, adaptable, and positive Patient Services Coordinator I to join the team at its Bannockburn office. This role supports a collaborative, team-oriented environment and focuses on delivering exceptional patient-centered service while helping maintain efficient front office operations.

The position requires comfort working with a high volume of public interaction in a fast-paced setting. Responsibilities include supporting patient flow, contributing to a positive patient experience, and assisting the practice in meeting its goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Greeting patients and visitors with high-quality customer service
  • Preparing paperwork to support efficient office operations
  • Answering general inquiries
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Handling phone reception, patient triage, and escalation to appropriate staff
  • Completing registration and pre-registration activities
  • Reviewing patient demographics and insurance information
  • Assisting with check-in and check-out procedures
  • Managing patient charts
  • Collecting and posting patient responsibility payments, including copays and deductibles
  • Completing insurance verification and referral management as needed
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Performing other office duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience; medical office experience preferred
  • EHR experience preferred, especially Epic
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Familiarity with scheduling and rescheduling appointments
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications
  • Insurance payer and eligibility knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a flexible schedule as needed
  • Professional appearance and results-oriented approach
  • Willingness to complete ongoing training
