The Credentialing Coordinator ensures that medical staff members maintain current credentials and licenses to work legally in their field or specialty. This role monitors renewal dates, works with medical staff on renewal steps, reviews new provider information, and helps ensure all required licenses and credentials remain current.
The position also supports compliance efforts, maintains administrative records, communicates with physicians and coworkers, and assists with internal credentialing processes.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Knowledge of medical credentialing and privileging procedures and standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
- Proficient touch-typing skills
- Ability to focus for extended periods of time
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Visual and auditory acuity for frequent computer and telephone use
- Ability to perform occasional overhead and low reaching
- Physical strength required for equipment needs and patient-care activities
- Ability to respond quickly to center needs and emergencies
- Frequent judgment and response required
- Occasional response to disasters or emergencies
Working Conditions
