Patient Scheduling Coordinator II

Position Overview

The Patient Scheduling Coordinator II is responsible for managing patient scheduling functions, including registration, referral processing, insurance verification, and pre-certification activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient clinic operations and a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and their representatives professionally and courteously
  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
  • Schedule appointments for office visits, labs, radiology tests, injections, and chemotherapy/infusion
  • Coordinate new internal referrals and manage related appointment types
  • Handle patient no-shows and process clinic discharges as necessary
  • Maintain accurate scheduling templates and optimize provider schedules
  • Respond to incoming phone calls and emails related to scheduling inquiries
  • Send appointment reminders and rescheduling notices
  • Report scheduling or workflow issues to leadership promptly
  • Provide general administrative assistance and patient support
  • Cross-train with team members to promote departmental efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with safety and confidentiality standards
  • Participate in staff meetings and assist in onboarding new employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • At least 6 months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Effective multitasking and prioritization in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
