Support the Profee Cardio department as a Profee Medical Coder, with a focus on neurosurgery coding. In this role, you will accurately code outpatient procedures and diagnoses to support billing, reimbursement, and revenue cycle efficiency.
Responsibilities include:
- Review and analyze medical records and clinical documentation to assign appropriate CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD codes for outpatient procedures and diagnoses
- Ensure accurate DRG assignments for hospital outpatient services
- Collaborate with medical billing teams to support correct claim submission and resolve coding discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements
- Use EMR and EHR systems to extract information needed for coding
- Audit coded data for accuracy and identify opportunities for process improvement
- Stay current on changes in medical terminology, coding standards, and healthcare regulations
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications and skills include:
- CPC certification required; CCS also accepted
- Strong knowledge of DRG classifications, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
- Experience with medical billing processes and medical collections procedures
- Proficiency using EMR and EHR systems for documentation review and data entry
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards
- Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately and assign codes efficiently
- Familiarity with medical office workflows and experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
