Optum, part of the UnitedHealth Group family of businesses, is seeking an Ancillary Medical Coder to support coding services for providers and help improve health outcomes through accurate documentation and coding. This role is part of a global organization focused on health optimization, inclusion, career development, and high-quality health services.

In this role, you will code outpatient ancillary services, support documentation accuracy, and help maintain coding quality and productivity standards. You will also collaborate with coding leadership, participate in educational events, and provide feedback to providers when needed.

This is a full-time position with flexible hours and the ability to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S.

Requirements & Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Professional coder certification from AHIMA and/or AAPC, such as CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA, maintained annually
  • 1+ years of outpatient facility coding experience
  • Ability to use a PC in a Windows environment, including EMR systems

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with encoder systems such as eCAC, 3M, or EPIC
  • Experience working with CPT coding

Telecommuting requirements

  • Dedicated work area separated from other living areas and providing information privacy
  • Ability to keep company-sensitive documents secure
  • Residence in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or existing high-speed internet service
