Medical Coder - Outpatient

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or higher
• Active AHIMA or AAPC coding certification such as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT
• ICD-10 certification
• 3+ years of medical coding, recoding, abstraction, analysis, and assembly of medical record data experience
• Minimum 97% accuracy rating
• US citizenship
• Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
• No history of unfavorable removal from a government position
• Current on required training and certification requirements
• Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and Teams
• Ability to work in a private and secure area while protecting PHI/PII and following HIPAA requirements

Preferred experience

• DoD systems such as MHS Genesis, EM360, or JLV
• Multispecialty coding experience, including behavioral health, cardiology, ER, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, infectious disease, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, OB/Gyn surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, outpatient, pulmonology, rheumatology, sleep medicine, transplant surgery, or vascular surgery
