9-week contract position with a possible extension. Primary work is remote after onsite training during the first 2-4 weeks. Training will take place in Los Angeles, and the candidate must be local and able to work onsite for training with no exceptions. UCLA will provide equipment. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required experience
- 2+ years of experience in medical coding, billing, and abstracting
- Must hold one of the following certifications: CCS, CPC, or CHONC
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Familiarity with coding guidelines and regulations, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS
- Practical knowledge of physician clinic-based revenue cycle processes
- Practical knowledge of professional series coding and billing in a multi-specialty environment
- Ability to read medical records for validation and coding
- Practical knowledge of government and other payer coding, billing, and collection rules and regulations
- Experience in oncology coding preferred
