Responsible for completing quality assurance reviews of internal and external inpatient coders. This role performs onboarding audits, provides training to newly hired inpatient coders, validates accurate abstraction of data into electronic medical record systems, and ensures compliance with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, UHDDS, CMS, and AHA POA guidelines. The position also identifies missing or inappropriate provider queries, reports quality results, tracks educational opportunities, and supports client needs through education and feedback.
Requirements & Qualifications
- CCS credential required
- Minimum 5 years of auditing experience
- Minimum 3 years of Trauma Level 1 and academic teaching facility experience preferred
- Experience with CDI reconciliation and feedback
- Experience with second-level reviews of coder work and vendor billing-company reviews
- Experience resolving Epic work queues and providing feedback/removing barriers
- Experience creating tip sheets and delivering education
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Client-facing experience
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
- Must maintain coding credential requirements
- AHIMA credential required
