Professional Fee Coder role focused on remote coding of surgical procedures and evaluation and management services for multiple specialties.
This position supports healthcare organizations by ensuring accurate coding, compliance, and appropriate reimbursement while helping improve documentation quality and reduce financial risk.
Key responsibilities include abstracting codes from medical record documentation, entering data into client systems, communicating with providers and project managers as needed, and maintaining compliance with coding and privacy regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Current AAPC or AHIMA credential: CPC or CCS-P
- Minimum 5 years of certified experience
- At least 5 years of recent experience abstracting CPT, E&M, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes from provider documentation
- Strong knowledge of multiple surgical and E/M specialties
- Extensive medical terminology knowledge
- Experience researching and applying coding rules and regulations
- Experience entering codes into a database or software tool
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and EMR systems including Epic
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
