As the Professional Coder II, you will code complex surgical procedures across multiple specialties at ProMedica.
You will interpret operative notes and procedural documentation as you code provider office and hospital charges for all departments supported by professional billing. With your strong understanding of surgical guidelines, you will code complex surgical services, procedures, and evaluation and management services.
You will ensure compliance with official coding guidelines and payor standards.
This is a remote position, with eligibility limited to residents of certain U.S. states due to legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to pass internal coding test
- Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding
- 3 years of physician/professional complex surgical and E&M coding experience in a health care system or medical office setting
- Experience with complex surgical coding, including OB/Gyn, Gastrointestinal, Neurology, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, Cardiothoracic, Urology, ENT, Plastic Surgery, and General Surgery
- CPC, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA certification required

- Knowledge of the professional billing revenue cycle process
- Knowledge and experience with Epic and other coding applications
- 4+ years of physician/professional complex surgical and E&M coding experience in a health care system or medical office setting
