Certified Professional Coder & Affidavit Specialist

Managed Care Network, Inc. is seeking an experienced Certified Professional Coder (CPC) to support medical case review in a legal and insurance environment.

This role focuses on reviewing physician and facility bills, auditing coding practices, evaluating medical necessity and stabilization points, and preparing counter-affidavits or cost reports for arbitration and litigation. The position is remote, independent, and may require testimony or deposition as an expert witness.

The work supports attorneys, insurance carriers, and providers in the Property & Casualty marketplace, with an emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and legally defensible reporting.

Requirements & Qualifications

Required

  • Active Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification from AAPC
  • 3-5 years of medical coding experience
  • Experience with NYS and/or NJ Workers' Compensation and No-Fault billing
  • Knowledge of fee schedule application and medical review
  • Familiarity with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS Level II, CDT, DRG, and EAPG coding systems
  • Experience drafting affidavits or affirmations for arbitration or litigation
  • Strong written communication and legal writing skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Proficiency with coding audit tools and UCR databases such as Optum 360, Context 4, and Find-A-Code
  • Willingness to testify or be deposed if required
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred

  • Background in forensic medical coding or legal proceedings
  • Experience determining medical stabilization in complex claims
  • Prior testimony experience in legal or arbitration settings
  • Experience supporting auto/no-fault, workers' compensation, or personal injury cases
