Jamison Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified and motivated Certified Inpatient/Outpatient Medical Coder to provide remote medical coding services in support of a federal healthcare client.
The selected candidate will perform inpatient and outpatient medical records coding, coding validation, documentation review, provider queries, and related health information management functions. This role supports a large federal healthcare facility serving inpatient, outpatient, surgical, and specialty-care populations.
Key duties include reviewing electronic medical records for completeness and accuracy, assigning principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures, applying ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and E/M coding standards, and ensuring proper coding sequence and compliance. The role also includes identifying CC/MCC conditions, applying MS-DRG logic for inpatient cases, preparing compliant provider queries when documentation is incomplete or unclear, and participating in audits and performance reviews.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- At least 3 years of continuous medical coding experience
- Experience coding in a hospital or healthcare facility with a large and diverse patient population
- Demonstrated inpatient and outpatient medical coding experience
- Ability to review and code complex medical, surgical, diagnostic, and procedural records
- Knowledge of Oracle Cerner, 3M/Solventum, ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, E/M, and HCPCS
- Current certification from AHIMA or AAPC, such as:
- RHIT
- CCS
- CCS-P
- RHIA
- CPC
- Ability to provide documentation verifying current certification
- Willingness to complete required background checks
Additional Expectations
