We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will translate medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes used for billing, insurance claims, and medical records management.
This position supports accurate coding, compliance with industry guidelines, and efficient revenue cycle management. You will work with electronic health record systems and billing software while contributing to healthcare operations and financial accuracy.
Requirements & Qualifications
Duties
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and DRG codes
- Ensure all coding aligns with current medical coding guidelines and industry standards for inpatient and outpatient services
- Accurately interpret medical documentation, including physician notes, lab results, and diagnostic reports
- Collaborate with billing departments to facilitate proper medical collection and insurance third-party billing processes
- Utilize billing software, EMR, and EHR systems to input coded data efficiently
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of health insurance claim processing procedures and revenue cycle management practices
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to verify coding accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical coding within a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT coding, and DRG assignment
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical documentation standards
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and billing software platforms
- Knowledge of health insurance policies, claim processing procedures, and third-party billing practices
- Familiarity with medical coding guidelines for inpatient services and outpatient procedures
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical records accurately
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple records efficiently while adhering to deadlines
