Buffalo Orthopedics is a busy single-surgeon orthopedic practice with one nurse practitioner. Office locations include Orchard Park and Williamsville.
The role involves medical billing, coding support, claims submission, payment posting, account reconciliation, and assisting patients with billing questions and statements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Orthopedic billing/coding experience preferred, but not mandatory
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, including proper use of modifiers
- Daily data entry and submission of medical claims
- Knowledge of medical terminology; orthopedics knowledge preferred
- Insurance payment posting and reconciliation
- Patient payment posting
- Experience working current and aged accounts receivable
- Experience with all major insurance carriers, including Workers Compensation and No Fault
- Working knowledge of insurance carrier websites such as Availity, UnitedHealthcare, WNYHealthenet, Carisk, and Change Healthcare/RPA
- Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and ability to produce A/R billing reports
- Medent experience required
- At least 5 years of medical billing experience required; medical coding experience preferred
