HCA Healthcare is seeking a Medical Coder (Work from Home) to review and code designated office and hospital notes for one or more practices. This role supports physician services by ensuring accurate charge capture, resolving coding-related denials, and providing documentation guidance to physicians, non-physician practitioners, and practice management.
The position is remote, with candidates required to be located in the Kansas or Missouri area to round with practices and attend meetings as needed.
Key responsibilities include reviewing charge documents, abstracting CPT-4, HCPCS II, and ICD-9/ICD-10 codes from medical records, entering charges into the billing system, tracking denial patterns, and assisting with billing, coding, and reimbursement issues.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy/physiology preferred
- At least 1 year of coding and/or billing experience in a healthcare environment
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
- COC (Certified Outpatient Coder)
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
- RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet a 95% productivity and accuracy rate
- Strong understanding of current coding guidelines and relevant federal regulations
