Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains is seeking a certified medical coder to support abortion care through chart review, coding compliance, documentation quality, and revenue integrity work. This role focuses on auditing abortion-related encounters, improving documentation accuracy, and collaborating with clinicians and billing teams to resolve coding questions and denials.
The position is open to applicants in Colorado and New Mexico and is part-time at approximately 20 hours per week. The ideal schedule is Monday through Friday, 9am to 1pm, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
- Active AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent required
- AAPC Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) required
- CPMA preferred
- Minimum 3 years of outpatient medical billing and coding experience, ideally in preventive, reproductive, or family-planning care
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and auditing practices
- Demonstrated experience in quality review and auditing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with phone and video communication
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to use Chrome and Edge
- Experience with NextGen PM & EHR preferred
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage interruptions, and reprioritize
- Self-starter with strong initiative and follow-through
- Ability to provide effective training and coaching to licensed staff
- High school diploma or equivalent required
