A Medical Coder reviews patient medical records after visits and translates clinical information into codes used by insurers to process claims and reimbursements. This role includes confirming treatments with medical staff, identifying missing information, and ensuring accurate code assignment for diagnoses and procedures.
This is an onsite position.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent
Medical Coding Certificate; RHIT or CPC through AAPC or AHIMA, or state licensure meeting requirements
Maintain coding certification and attend in-service training as required
1 year of medical coding experience
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong computer skills, including data entry, coding, electronic medical record software, and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong attention to detail
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Goal-oriented and organized team player
