As a Medical Coder at HCA Healthcare, you will review medical record documentation and assign accurate coding based on diagnosis and procedure guidelines in accordance with HCA-ASD Coding Compliance Policies and Procedures. This role supports outpatient surgery center coding and billing activities, quality standards, and compliance efforts.
• RHIT or RHIA degree preferred • Minimum 2 years of outpatient coding and/or Health Information Management experience required • Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office setting preferred • Coursework in Human Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Introduction to Coding (including ICD-10 and CPT) preferred • Completion of an ICD-10-CM training or certification curriculum, or at least 50% completed with expectation of finishing within 2 months after hire • Must provide proof of certification, transcript, or equivalent competency documentation • Ability to code outpatient surgery center records using ICD-10-CM, E/M, procedure categories, and HCPCS/CPT codes • Experience with 3M encoder and query tools preferred
