The Medical Auditor (Billing & Coding) role supports compliance and accuracy in coding, documentation, billing, and reimbursement processes. This position works under the Billing & Coding Compliance Manager to conduct audits, identify issues, educate providers, and help maintain compliance with federal regulations and internal standards.
Hybrid work is available, but the role requires travel by car to regional offices.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience working as a credentialed coder, preferably in a medical practice
- One of the following credentials required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS-P, CPC, or CEMC
- Thorough knowledge of CPT and ICD coding principles and guidelines
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid documentation rules
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and auditing skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Strong understanding of documentation, claims processing, reimbursement, and coding regulations
- Ability to build effective professional relationships with physicians, APPs, administrators, and team members
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel formulas, pivot tables, and dashboards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

- Must participate in professional development to stay current on healthcare policies and trends
- Must maintain knowledge of practice management and related computer software
- Some travel to regional offices is required
