Home Health Coder II

Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center

As a Home Health Coder II, you will review and code home health and hospice records using clinical documentation such as H&P, discharge summaries, progress notes, and face-to-face notes. You will document coding recommendations, OASIS edits, and work with team leads and denial teams to resolve coding-related issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review and code from clinical notes
  • Maintain or exceed productivity and quality standards
  • Work with the A/R team on coding-related denials and rejections
  • Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and federal regulations
  • Support professional growth through ongoing education and training
  • Review OASIS time points and interdisciplinary documentation in the EMR for timely locks and CMS submission
  • Use available tools and develop training strategies to improve outcomes
  • Address SHP alerts and reports related to outcomes, adverse events, and utilization in coordination with the Quality Support Specialist and/or Team Lead
Requirements & Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of professional fee coding experience required
  • At least 1 year of coding experience in home health and hospice specialties
  • Relevant education may substitute for experience requirement
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology preferred
  • Knowledge of pathophysiology preferred
  • Coding certification required
  • OASIS certification preferred but not required
